Just wondering if anyone out there has been interviewed by KFUPM recently, more specifically have you had your travel expenses reimbursed?
I was interviewed at the beginning of March and I'm still waiting after I was told it would take 6 weeks maximum to be reimbursed.
It was a particularly expensive trip for me costing almost half a month's salary to make the journey.
I declined their offer and I am wondering if this why they are taking so long to pay me back, if at all. |

If you declined an offer, in most places you wouldn't get the expenses reimbursed. For all schools in the UK the rule has long been that you get the expenses if they don't offer you the job, or if they do and you accept, but if they do and you refuse, then you pay.
That said, it will all depend on what you got in writing prior to the interview.
And do remember that in Saudi impatience is considered the greatest vice. |

I held off for a while before I declined the offer for this very reason.
There was nothing in our corespondence indicating that I wouldn't be reimbursed should I decline. |

I was interviewed in the states in 2003 by an American KFUPM vet in Kansas and was payed back on the spot for the receipts I had, and later was paid back quickly for the final receipts by mail. He said he would recomend me but I wasn't required at the time to accept or not.
I still haven't gone because it got postponed but plan to go again soon if possible.

Just to let you know that there's an end to this saga.
I got my cheque from KFUPM this morning, despite rejecting their offer.
Now there's only the 3 week wait for it to clear through my bank!! |
