Dear Readers,
Look for the small shops that sell curtains, bedding, etc.
These are the places that sell mosquito nets...Can you read this Romanization? (wen-2 jhang-4) This is how you say it in Chinese. It might cost about NT$500, so don't think you are being cheated. Ask the shop owner for some 'extra' material to use as a 'cord' for mounting.
You will need to drill 4 holes (and insert hooks) to set it up properly. It's lots of work, but it will definitely be worth it. Just make sure you don't want to re-arrange your bedroom soon...otherwise you will need to drill more holes and re-mount the mosquito net.
Best wishes.

| I had a mosquito net when I first came to Taiwan but found that, since it didn't seal completely, the mosquitos got in the net. I was annoyed with this within a couple of weeks and ended up taking it down. Then I tried getting a bug zapper. I hated having the light in my room and I still had mosquitos buzzing in my ear. My solution has been to simply leave my fan on all night. The fan blowing at my head seems to keep the mosquitos away. I still get the occassional bite but at least there are no damn mosquitos buzzing in my ear. |

In the mainland they sell a bottle of green liquid that mosquitos hate.
You simply rub a little on you and the mosquitos stay away.
I imagine you should be able to find it in a traditional Chinese medicine store, if not I'm sure you can pick some up in Hong Kong.
For me Off hasn't work very well, but this green stuff has saved my skin in Guangdong. |
