Hi,
My wife and I are considering a move to Singapore in the middle of next year. Please could you advise me on the probable cost of a basic, no luxury two bedroomed apartment to rent?
Many thanks,
Tim |

It will depend on how "no luxury" you want to go - or how far out of town you are prepared to live, baring in mind that SG is a very small place so living on the outskirts of town is not a great hardship!
It is possible to rent an HDB flat (these are govt/council flats - but not as we know them. Well maintained and looked after, placed deliberately close to amenities and public transport) for about 800-900 SGD a month (unfurnished, usually). Otherwise you can rent a 2 BRM apartment in a condo (furnished, has pool, gym etc) for about 1300 SGD. It is rare (but not unheard of) for expats to live in HDB flats, but this is where 80% of Singaporeans live. |
