Perhaps if you want to work for EF all you TEFL life, then their diploma is ok. Should you want to move on, you may find it an expensive white elephant.

And by the way, The British Council only jointly runs the Distance DELTA, which is a method of studying designed to suit their teachers. The exam and practical is still assessed externally by Cambridge and has nothing to do with the BC.

Well that's exactly what I said - the British Council run the Distance DELTA jointly with Cambridge. But it isn't exactly assessed "externally" by Cambridge - they jointly run the course, and assess it themselves. So the awarding body and course provider both run the course, the course provider then recognises the course as being a high-level EFL qualification, and they both take your money.

It's not a very clever state of affairs, and it doesn't exactly fill you (or a potential employer) with confidence that the qualitiy and assessment criteria of the course are suitable for its intended application. In other words, which respected and reliable body, apart from either the British Council or Cambridge UCLES (who both make money from it), is in a position say that the Diploma course teaches and tests the things that are really required to work as an EFL teacher or DOS?

I'm not going to argue the toss about this with you- all I know is that I found the DELTA enormously interesting and helpful.
