my mate who had been away for years went back to the Uk a few years ago to do his MA. On the application form he was asked simply if he had been living in the Uk. He ticked the yes box and no one checked and he didn't have to pay

No thanks. It is a personal goal of mine to not be reduced to the humiliation of signing on. Despite all the crap TEFL jobs I have had I have always been able to avoid signing on.

31 have a look at the site it is what you were asking about, not just signing on. keeping pension payments up to date, what is wrong with that?

I will:

Using quote functions

Why do they wash up in soapy water and then go to all that trouble of rinsing all the washing up in clean water?

You can`t find good quality dates here. You would think that at Ramadan you could get decent dates like in the Middle East. Forget Migros, Eminonu or Carrefour-just poor quality dates.

There are 10 kebap shops in a street but Osman is opening an 11th. When you ask him how he is going to survive with all that competition he says ''kismet olursa ...'' A year later Osman is going bankrupt after losing a forturne trying to compete with the other 10 places who all offer the exact same food-ezo gelin or mercimek corbasi etc. Why not open something different or somewhere else?

All those easy crosswords in cheap newspapers, big and with pictures of stars in them.

When you see ''ustalik belgesi'' in places-is it all just on the job training or do they have to do multiple choice tests?

KPDS-is it just a money making scam?

KPDS-is it only held in Ankara so that hotels etc. can scam money?

Start building your house first and hope you can afford to carry on. Why not save the money first and then build?

Teachers`day is in the wrong month. You have just started with a new class and don`t really know them and then they are supposed to buy you presents.

Damping-how did the word dumping get hijacked to mean cheap shops in Sirinevler selling cheap textiles?

Will the right man come along for Zoe and will we ever know?

Putting rubbish outside in Migros bags because it saves buying proper rubbish bags.

Arguing with neighbours who put their rubbish out in the mornings rather than the evenings and it smells.

No smoking signs that say ''under the law 1219'' oh it is that law well then i mustn`t smoke but if it was the law 1230 then..

Of course it is the right thing to do to keep up with payments. It makes great economic sense. But it doesn`t count in the situation I was talking about. For example if you wanted to do a PGCE and get it paid for plus the benefits the gov are paying to seduce would be teachers you HAVE to have paid stamps for 3 years. Of course if you were a student they are paid for you or even if you have signed on. You cannot pay the stamps and then get it all paid for. The class of contributions is only for pensions.

That website is fascinating. I was going to go to bed early but I just cannot stop reading it. Did you know that you may be able to get a pension not based on NI contributions if you:

left Montserrat after 1 November 1995 because of the volcanic eruption?
