This is the view from Gifu Castle overlooking the City of Gifu in the heart of Japan.
If you look really hard on the left hand side of the photos, you can see my house.
Notice the lack of trees. I sure have. |

I have broken my code of silence, I think this is a great thread.
For Spidey, here are some trees for you !!
These pics are taken at a park near my apartment, during cherry blossom season. |

On Geoje Island, South Korea, about an hour south of Busan, southeast of the peninsula.
The island is officially one urban area, with two of the world's top six shipbuilders on the north (Samsung) and east (Daewoo's DSME) coasts.
But the air is fresh and Koreans like to live all crammed together,
so, this community of about 40,000 in Okpo seems like a big city:
Yet I just have to drive two minutes or walk ten minutes (literally)
to get to one of many rural fishing ports, quiet bays and countryside:
No snow on this island, except for about an hour or two at most for one afternoon a year. It's often the warmest spot in Korea, surprisingly much milder in winter than famous Jeju Island far to the southwest. It's because many of the mainland Asia weather systems end up crossing just north of here when pushed by high pressure systems coming from the south. |

My son is almost 17 ... a bit older than your little one. Needs to stay in the States for his education. A 17-18 hour plane ride is probably a bit much for a visit.
Hes here now visiting me in Mexico ... and says "hi" to all of you. |

This is a bit old (the IFC tower is finished now), but this is the view of HK from The Peak as captured with a disposable $20 camera (yes that's someone's private swimming pool in the bottom right corner). No shortage of minerals in the air you will notice.

To be fair I am not the first foreign teacher to work in Lishi. There is a British chap who has been here for years and three Americans who couldn't take it here and did a runner. |

My little town pop. 5000 in western Japan. The school on the right with the big dirt field is one of the elementary schools I work at. Join the JET program my friends, and this mountain paradise could be yours!
