I'm going to be in GDL starting the 5th of July until August 15th and i need someone who speaks spanish and could help me arrange an apartment. Also, if anyone doesnt speak spanish and is just familiar with the area, my boyfriend and i would love a tour of the city or just some company to go out with. If anyone is interested, post here or email me ([email protected]) and let me know! Oh, by the way, I'm coming for summer school (english taught courses about mexican politics and sociology).

Hi,
I live in Guadalajara and we have a lot of information about finding apartments. I have been trough it all and know where to search. I must say that it would make it a lot easier when you speak spanish but I can help you searching.
My experience is that the best way is first look in which area you want to live. This will probably be near the school where you are going to study. If you give me the name of the school I probably can find where it is and can recommend you an area in the neigbourhood.
Newspapers are good resources to find a apartment. You probably want it furnished which makes it a little bit more difficult.
There are also some good websites where you can search. One of the websites i used a lot is www.mexplaza.com.mx. It is in spanish of course but I can help you with this if you want. Also what I did is strawl trough the areas where you want to stay. Often they have signs on the houses which says for rent.
At the moment my father in law wants to rent his house which is furnished but I think it wont be in your area.
We have a school in Tlaquepaque which is an area in GDL. You can find our address at the bottom of this post. Feel free to drop in when ever you want. I'm almost the whole day there.
What I advice is first stay in a hostel and from there on do you search for a place to rent. There is a cheap hostel in GDL. This is the address.
Hostel Guadalajara Centro
Maestranza # 147
Zona Centro
C.P. 44100
Guadalajara
Mexico
Tel: (33) 3562 7520
If you need more info just ask.

also, if anyone is in Los Mochis, Zacatecas, Mazatlan, Tepic, or Puerta Vallarta, let me know as we will be travelling through those places, maybe more if anyone has a suggestion along the same route. |
