Does anyone know what kind of long distance rates are available to call the United States? In additon how accessible is high speed internet? How much is the internet as well? |

Hi Rickman...
There are a few companies now that offer cheap calls. You can call the USA for as little as 12 yen a minute from a fixed line phone... slightly more from a mobile. Apparently if you have Yahoo Broadband, you can call USA for a lot less than that.
High speed internet connection is everywhere ... To give a very general answer, count on about 5000 per month (that would include phone line rental aswell).
I pay 7000 per month for cable TV + internet.

Yahoo broadband is the best I know of. I pay about 5000/month for high speed connection and calls to Canada are 12 yen/min. U.S. is 2.5 yen/min (lucky dogs). I guess that is the price for freedom.  |
