What's that? Pay was late again? Are they STILL doing that? Which month exactly was that? How recent?

About four months out of they year pay is late. I used to receive apolgetic phone calls each month but now no explanations are even given. That said, salary is only delayed a day or two but it still happens. Interac is also the only company I know who take a full month to process a payement.

Are you sure that it wasnt when the end of the month ends on a holiday or saturday?

For example, if you are expecting pay on the last day of the month, and that day is on a Saturday, you won't get paid until the monday.

Ive not been paid late once in my almost two years with them.

When did they last pay late, moot?

Most illegal dispatch companies pay a few weeks after the work that you do is done. It takes them a while to process everything and since they have many different clients paying them, they wait until they've collected
from everyone. So, they pay around a month or so "late".

You should receive your pay on the same day every month though! Nothing should be late after you receive your first pay.

Just for comparison, it's not uncommon for Japanese employees to be paid near the end of the month, for work that they haven't even done yet.

Willy, what normally happens in Japan when a payday falls on a holiday, is that your employer pays you on the preceeding business day.

As for the health insurance etc, I'm fairly sure from memory that it was outsourced.

You can't outsource basic healthcare insurance in Japan. It's illegal. Some companies may have additional private insurance to cover things that aren't covered by the government scheme. This may cover the 30% deductable that users have to pay, and so on.

So, if your memory is correct, Interac is also breaking the law by not enrolling their own management in Shakai Hoken. Did you get paid yearly leave?

I had about 6 weeks paid holiday. My health insurance was fully paid for by Interac. I was quite happy with it. I wasn't aware that it was illegal. Anyway, I don't have any reason to defend Interac. It just strikes me that a lot of people on this forum are making it out to be much worse than it is. I'll leave you to it. Best wishes.

Hard for me to believe a company in Japan pays late. When pay day is on a Saturday or Sunday, I get paid on Friday. In the more than 3 years of working for them pay has never been late!
What is up with Interact? I know Interact is a larger company.
If pay is late, one should seek a new job. This is Japan not Korea.

I used to work for them too, and I agree, there are far, far worse places to work.

Late Pay? Hell, at least you got paid. I remember working for a company that signed me on to work in March, but didn't have an assignment for me until May, and as they figured that I wasn't working, they did not feel the need to pay me.

So there I was, technically employed by the company (so I could not file for unemployment), yet not paid because I wasn't working. If not for the kindess of friends to lend me money, I would have starved for those two months.

To add insult to injury, when they did find an assignment for me, they made me sign a revised contract that started in May, and destroyed my original contract so that they could pretend that it just didn't happen.

Interac might pay late, but I am 100% certain they wouldn't not pay at all.

Also, as far as Shakai Hoken, be careful what you wish for---you might get it.

Consider--Interac pays shakai hoken for their teachers. Where is the money for that going to come from? Interac? Get real. They'll take it out of teachers' salaries! It only makes sense that they would. And that's what----30,000 yen a month? Do you really want to take a 30,000 yen pay cut? I can think of much better uses for the money myself.

Remember, there is no more minimum 250,000 yen per month rule.

I would also warn the unions that although paying Shakai Hoken is the law, there is none that says that Interac is obligated to renew contracts either.

I don't dount that you'll get Interac to agree to enroll their teachers in Shakai Hoken. I just doubt that you'll get Interac to pay for it.

Were you enrolled in unemployment insurance at the time?

They made you sign a revised contract? How exactly did they "make" you sign it? You chose to sign it. You might have not wanted to, but it sure doesn't sound like you resisted or even bothered to get any advice before agreeing to it.

Do you have a copy of your original contract or did your employer destroy that one as well?
