Mmmm....I was going to say something but instead maybe I should ask Delores or Cindy to do my postings today. You can't be too careful these days - you never know what the CIA or the FBI are up to! |

31 - You mentioned an earlier 'witchhunt' as ET officials tried to flush you out. Just curious, were there staff meetings? Do they speak of 31 at ET? Have there been any close calls with Molly? (i.e. using computer labs at the school to post "31" isms on Dave's?) (granted of course that they still have labs there - the ones we used at s.nevler were pretty much destroyed in the deprem of 99, and the repair efforts did not inspire much confidence as the primary repair material was crazy glue.) |
She has no idea. She and her flunkies (officials-ha ha) ran around checking passport photocopies and had meetings but they were just a waste of time. They spent hours and hours looking for me. 31 is a topic of conversation at ET but it has died down now. Most people are just trying to make a living. I don`t usually post at work. Yeah the buildings are not up to standard but then few are in Ist. |

Have you discovered why it's impossible to search the ESL Cafe forums using the Search tool and the "Search by Author" field containing the name "31"? It produces no results when I search with the browsers Firefox, Safari, and Int. Explorer. |
Can any of the Mods explain this? |

Not that this is a forum for analysing and disecting the inner workings of the being known as 31, but what the hey, I'll do it anyway.
I'm mostly a reader - not much of a poster as you can see. Seems that 31 is loved and loathed here and no one knows who he/she is.
If 31 was a referance to his/her birthday, that would then be the reason the official ET flunkies were digging up passport information, right? (I have a knack for pointing out the obvious.) Whatever "31" means to the person who has chosen to use this moniker, I found the following information to be rather accurate. (3+1 = 4)
"4 represents, in Chaldean symbolism, the planet Uranus and is also related to the Sun. 4 people have a character all of their own. They seem to automatically look at everything from the opposite point of view to anyone else. Even so, they are not trying to be quarrelsome. 4 people like to reverse the order of things. They don't make friends easily, and seem attracted to people born under the 1, 2, 7 and 8 numbers. Those born on the 4th, 13th, 22nd or 31st vibrate to 4.
4 people are seldom as materially successful as other numbers. In fact, they often seem indifferent to accumulating wealth. 4 people should carry out their ideas and plans on any 4th, 13th, 22nd or 31st day. Even though 4 people make few real friends, the ones they have they are most loyal and devoted to."

It still cracks me up to think of them going through all of the passport photocopies at ALL the branches to try and find someone who was born on the 31st. No doubt some poor wretch had a grilling because he was born then. Still if he or she had got the bullet then I would have been doing them a favour. |

31, I have no qualms whatsoever about labelling you an utter fool for staying in a job that so clearly frustrates you. After all of the bad things you've said about your alleged current employer, the fact that you stay there beggars belief.
Quite frankly, and I'm sure averyone agrees with me, you have absolutely no right to disparage ET from now on. Doing so, after agreeing to stay with an alleged employer that you have stated you hate, would merely serve to identify you as a total moron. |
But almost all TEFL jobs are rubbish. I have gone from job to job and none of them were any good. I have tried a private uni, lang schools, private lessons, teaching co. work, training centre and high school-all have their advantages and disadvantages but it is TEFL that is always the same wherever you are. Why change jobs when I already know that I would be changing one crap employer for another.
No right? How many people here hate their jobs? They stay. TEFL- it is so easy to get a pathetically paid job with pathetic conditions but virtually impossible to get a decent job with decent conditions.
Here is my TEFL job of the day:
Job description
London based TEFL Teachers required to teach General English at our schools in London.
Minimum Degree + CELTA ( or equivalent ) . Full time and Part time work available . 8 - 9 per hour. Teachers interested in summer work need not apply. |

Despite (or because of) the rumors, his Bat-Identity remains a mystery.
WILL we ever learn the truth? CAN we tear ourselves away from this thrilling enigma? DON'T we have other interests?* WHY is this happening?
Stay tuned. Same Bat-Country, same Bat-Forum.....
*I do, but between work and this, this is more interesting... |
