Look at special education certification and teacher training programs. Often these programs are operated on the state or provincial level and will offer a interim teaching certification that will allow student teachers to train in the class room. All you need is a teaching certificate.
Any teaching certification is accepted on Taiwan.

I went home for about a month. Headed straight back here after I visited some friends and visited the folks. I wasn't planning a short visit.
No contest. |

I worked in Taiwan for almost two years then left, not planning to return. After about two months I started getting itchy feet to get back to Taiwan. I tried to get over it but as time went on the feelings became even worse. After six months I packed it in and returned to Taiwan. I was very happy to be back but after a month of being back in Taiwan my Dad developed a critical illness and I had to return back home. Circumstances have dictated that I haven't been able to return to Taiwan and at this stage it is unlikely I ever will, except for a visit. I miss it a lot but I am happy to be back home. I do plan on returning overseas sometime and teaching in an international school but probably not Taiwan.
Anyway the point of all this is if you feel you want to return do it. The worst that can happen is that you discover that you made a mistake and return home. You would have lost nothing except a lifetime of wondering. |

Guess I should have expanded a little...
I went home from Korea. I didn't plan the return home, it just happened after five weeks in Thailand. Big mistake. I really liked Seoul City, I just needed a break from Asian lifestyles, and I got it.
Life is just so anal back home, Canada for me, Vancouver to be specific. You really need a plan. A job would be good, or at least $5,000 and some decent connections....almost like coming to Taiwan.
I really liked Seoul but coming to Taiwan hasn't been that bad. It's much less regimented than Canada, such as alcohol sales, restaurants and traffic. But I really miss all things North American. I miss the food the most. Chinese food sucks sometimes and you really have to go out of your way to get decent western food. I'm a big meat and pasta guy and those things are hard to get here, in variety and quality, unless you're really loaded.
I'm fine now but I plan on going back to Vancouver in two years or less, this time with a clear plan and a back-up plan for returning to Asia, somewhere. |

My local past restaurant sells a large plate of the above mentioned product at $80. For US$2.50 I'm not sure what you expect to find elsewhere. For me, Chinese food is one of the best things about being here. |
