(Says who?)
Nowhere is it written that corrections of obvious errors (you wrote it that way twice--once could have been a misstype) by a person who constantly brags on this forum about how well-educated she is (a Master's degree is now evidence of a good education?) and how much time she spent in Germany (!?), must be made kindly.
If I hadn't corrected you, you may have spent the rest of your life saying BARvaria, and wondering why people's eyes glazed over....
You're welcome. |

Actually, I always feel good.
But people do not "feel" superior. Either they are, or they aren't. |

No-one is superior to anyone else. We all enter this Earth and exit it.
Deal with it Moonraven, holy gatekeeper of Latin America.

You might try studying the I Ching to find out how a superior person is consciously formed. For thousands of years philosophers and spiritual leaders have talked and written about how to improve oneself, and a number of religions have been based on improving oneself to avoid negative karma and seemingly endless reincarnations.
Ignorance may be a cause or boorishness, not it doesn't excuse it--not in the classroom, and not on this forum. |

This site takes about 7 minutes to read, and it's a great resource. Now if I could just learn to follow what it says instead of giving into my urges to feed the trolls ... |

More hypocrisy!
You have given into your urge to BE a troll--apparently because you are not capable of contributing anything to any of the topics on this forum? |

On my other favorite message board (www.dr1.com--I've a blog on there as well) we have a nifty "ignore" function... |

Here's the difference between graciousness when one is corrected, and the boorishness exhibited on this forum.
A little while ago I was reading the titles of today's articles on the Common Dreams website. My eyes stopped when I saw the title "Sin Verguensas"--written by a woman who is an associate professor of Latin American History and Women's Studies at the University of Rhode Island.
As mistakes of that kind really impact one's credibility, I immediately sent her an e-mail indicating that it was a good piece, but that the word is spelled "verguenZas". And she immediately e-mailed me back telling me how embarrassed she was to have missed that glaring error in her FIRST language--and thanked me profusely. Hopefully, she can get the site to correct the error.
Being pig-headed is not the way to be given tenure at a decent university. A word to those who whine about how they are undervalued by employers.... |

Are you content yet? Gosh, it's been nearly four months since I've visited this site. Why? Oh my, I have an interesting and challenging life. I'm sad to discover you're still as angry and unfulfilled as always. Please, please, do this board a favor and drink red wine and date occasionally, even if it's not Chavez.
A little secret: you don't like it when you're called a sad, miserable wretch of a poster, and no one likes it when you correct their wayward, unMarxist thoughts. Or their spelling. Remember, there'll always be somebody thinner and prettier, even brighter than you. Me, for instance. So buy drinks all around and close thy wrinkled and venomous lips.
By the way, in 1999, oil never went below $10.55 a barrel for light Texas crude, the benchmark of the industry. In an earlier post on this thread, you claim it went to $7. Oh, you silly little thing. If you're going to blow so arrogantly, try to be correct occasionally.
Signed,
Claude Rains

Sorry, CR:
You proved my point about the boorishness of many folks on this forum.
You know where you can go with your ageism. And the day you are brighter than me it will be because I am brain dead from an aneurism.
Sorry it took you 4 months to do an Internet search for the price of oil in 1999. Too bad your search was unfruitful, as this shows:
http://www.energy.ca.gov/contingency/1999_situation/1999-07-22_sit_report.html
"The Venezuelan Oil Minister was reported to have indicated however, that the organization could move earlier than the March deadline to relax the output cuts when it meets in September. Other members of OPEC have indicated that the organization should maintain the agreement cutting production for the full one-year term, in spite of rising prices.
Alaska North Slope Crude Oil: The price of Alaska North Slope (ANS) crude oil established a new high for 1999 on July 16 of $18.50 per barrel. As of July 21, 1999, ANS is $17.89 per barrel. This price is $8.11 per barrel higher than the 1999 low of $9.78 per barrel that occurred on February 15.
California Crude Oil: California purchasers of crude oil decreased the price of Kern River crude oil to $13.25 per barrel as of July 20, 1999, in response to some weakness in the world market. Kern River crude oil is considered a bench mark for crude prices in the State. The posted price of Kern River crude oil started the year at $7.00 per barrel."
Venezuelan oil is usually LOWER in price than the two mentioned. So the 7 bucks a barrel was an overstatement, if anything.
Try taking another 4 months off. |

I don't always agree with Moonraven's postings, but that's just part of participating in a large, international forum.
However, why is it that when a woman is intellectually challenging (controversially or not) she is portrayed as unattractive, unfulfilled, single, and angry? Would the same things be written about a smart, challenging man?
It seems that posters who reply to topics in this manner are lacking the ability to fire back with style- resorting to feeble chauvinist dribble instead. |
