Hi

I am a British citizen with an EU passport and PGCE teaching qualification.

In just under two weeks, I will be flying from the UK to Krakow to spend a couple of weeks sightseeing with some Polish friends. If I like what I see, I intend to stay and look for teaching work. If not, I shall push on to Tokyo (my original plan).

My question is: I rang the Polish embassy in London this morning to query paperwork and they said all I needed to enter Poland, look for work and actually work (max 3 months) was a passport - no visa required. Fair enough. But I have only bought a single plane ticket to Krakow. Will this be a problem? Do I need an address of where I'm staying, proof of funds or anything like that, at immigration, or do they just wave me through as a tourist?

Thanks for any responses.
John

You're British. There are no problems at all being in Poland. You need no work permit to work here. You can come and go as you please. The immigration will just wave you through. The only formality you need to complete is to get a resident's card after 3 or 6 months (depends on who you listen to). With that said, not having a resident's card is not enough reason to be deported from Poland.
