Hi Sweets,
I am in California and will be attending the program at San Jose State University.
Were are you at?
My family thinks I am crazy because I already have a masters degree and county job (= security and great benifits) but I am looking forward to the change. Anyhow I will still be practicing my clinical work while I go to school ( a man has to eat somehow LOL )
But in the long run I have always felt at home overseas. I dont know if you or anyone can relate to that? But It is just home for me abroad.
I still remember when I came back from Counseling in the Caribbean, I sware I was crying as soon as I stepped off the plane in SF International.
It was a site to see, a 240 lb national level bodybuilder sobbing like a little child LOL!
Anyhow, thanks and stay in touch, pm me if you would like and tell me more about yourself. |

Many congratulations on being accepted into the program! Like yourself, I already have a master's degree (an MBA in my case), but I am ready for the challenge of doing another one, albeit while I will be still working (my MBA was done full-time).
You'll probably be starting yours in September, but my own MEd Applied Linguistics degree with the (British) Open University will not be starting until February 2006! Nevertheless, time frames apart, I am sure that we will both find our respective programs challenging.
Since mine is distance learning, I will not be finishing mine until the fall of 2008. I hope that it will lead to a better job in TEFL back home in Britain, although, right now, I am already a lecturer (U.S., associate professor?) in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) at a school in Wuhan, China, which is affiliated to a partnership of 19 English universities, and my job is essentially to prepare Chinese graduates to go to Britain to do graduate degrees themselves.
Perhaps it could swing me a university job back home!
All the best in your studies! |

lots of time to do background reading before then to make the work load easier when you officially start. |

Chris
Congradualations also on your program!
And I am sure you will do great finding a job backhome. You are definately getting great experience it sounds like!
I was just talking to an ESL Professor at a local Community College and while in the bay area the job market is sparse ( and housing outragious) he went to a TESOL conference and there are many colleges looking for professors if your flexable enough to relocate. I am sure the same would apply in England.
Anyhow, I am not doing it for hoping to gain a US gig but to establish a home base abroad and then I will come back to the US and visit relatives and friends everyonce in awhile. Some people act like the USA is the only game going on in town and we live in an awsome world with amazing places to call home and settle down in if we choose. But like I said, you sound like your getting great experience---very impressive sounding to me. And landing a career back home should not be too difficult when your ready!
I hope we can stay in touch. I will also be going to school part-time (9 units a semester) Maybe we can compare notes in our respective programs. You definately have my support!
Thank you agian Chris
Many Blessings! |
