Does anybody have any experience with CfBT in Malaysia? Are Teachers working in KL or in some small village in the jungle? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks |

CfBT Malaysia has no jobs in KL. The programme is specifically for schools outside the KL/Klang valley area. Some are in cities, some are in the palm oil plantations, but only the administration works in KL. |

Is that the salary outside KL? That could provide quite a decent living. How is the school? Is there professional development? shared teaching resources? Do teachers get treated with respect? is the company's word kept?
What can you rent a decent apartment close to the city for there? |

Is what the salary outside KL? CfBT pays all the people in the same job the same amout of money no matter where they are located.

No

There is a small library of stuff, in KL, if you want to fly/drive to KL everytime you want to check out a book.

In the sense that they are very careful to NEVER say anything that could be construed as a fact or a straight answer, yes.

The salary I was referring to was in another post. It was RM 5 000 per month. I would think you could save on that if you really wanted to, especially away from K.L., e.g.:
rent 1200
living 300 x 4
still leaves a saving of RM 2 600 per month. No?
Anyone know of any good companies to work for in Malaysia if you have experience and are serious about teaching and not particularly into b.s.? Silly question? |

There was a job post on Dave's here a while ago for a university position in Melacca. Check that out.
The problem with saving 2600 a month is that, in the remote areas where you get posted, there is NOTHING to do. I mean, I like sitting on the beach drinking fresh coconuts picked by a monkey as much as the next person, but after a year of that, you need something else to do. Travel is nice, but expensive. Some folk turn to pirated movies and blow money on that. Just be sure to factor in an entertainment budget into your calculations. |
