Sorry, this isn't going to be much help to newbies, but might be interesting to consider.

I think a lot of regular Dave's posters only check out the forums relating to the country they teach in. I, for one, don't regularly drop in to the Newbie forum.

Newbies: while you might get a few replies to your general questions here (and it IS a good starting-point), once you've got your focus down to one or two potential destinations, try a post in their Job-related forum. Chances are you'll get more responses, with the kind of specific information you'll find useful.
