Just curious. Read a job posting that said only people from Ontario could apply for visa reasons. I can't for the life of me figure out how this could be so. Is it just some weird discrimination/snobbishness or do those from Ontario have some special status in Colombia? Can Canada be that divided by province? Aren't visas a federal matter?

I can see Quebec being singled out as they are actively wooing Latin Americans and are practically a different country. Any ideas? Confused

Sounds rather odd - I don't know of any reason why that restriction would be.
Do you have a link for the posting?

Ontario is the "centre of the universe" and the rest of Canada is just the colonies, whose purpose is to provide cheap resources and labour to let Ontarians exercise their manifest destiny to dominate and exploit the rest of the nation.

If Ontario were a generation, they'd be the Baby Boomers.

Seriously, there is no legal justification or logical reason for this.

I have heard that degrees and certificates written in French, issued from the province of Quebec, are not acceptable in South Korea, so I suspect that Columbia is avoiding French "speakers" of English to teach in Columbia. Seems like ignorance (much like racism, ageism, and other inaccuracies) plagues the ESL industry.

They're obviously not telling the truth. They must only have an office in Ontario.

Oh my God! And here I am unable to go and teach in Colombia! How shall I go on?! What joy is left in my empty life? Oh Colombia, please reconsider, for how shall I use all this knowledge in my head? I'm willing to pay $20/hr only to teach in a Colombian language school.
