I am starting as a PNET in September.
As far as I know the EMB reimburses u for coming over to HK for the PNET scheme(?).
I've been living in HK for a couple of years and I went home for a month in June/July.
Does anyone know if I have any chance of getting a full or partial reimbursement for my airfare?
Any advice appreciated.

As long as you can demonstrate that home for you is outside Hong Kong then it shouldn't be a problem. Having a foreign passport and connections to another country e.g. family should be enough.

As you are not yet on the scheme, and are obviously not coming to HK to join the scheme-as you have been here for a couple of years already- I hope the EMB has the good grace to think of the tax payers of HK and not reimburse you. Nothing personal meant by this, but I really can't see how such a reimbursment could be justified.

'Hanuman', please excuse the resident troll who has once again struck. You will have to learn to ignore all interjections from what must be the forum's all time most objectionable poster. Just take a peruse of some of his posts you'll get the picture.

Anyway, as regards your question, 'Saroq' is right it shouldn't be a problem as long as your normal place of residence is outside of HK and you can show you returned in order to take up your post, as it were. (And rightly so.)

Well, from the way I see it, you may as well apply. The worst they can say is 'no'.

It worked for me (possibly). I can over in July last year, but only started as a PNET in April (long story as to why, mostly to do with the 'efficient' Edstaff). As I was interviewed and accepted last year I applied writing on their form that I can over with the sole intention of getting a NETs position. I was told just before the hols that my application had been accepted, though admittedly I've yet to see the dosh (but I have been out of HK since the 19th until just 2 days ago).

My advice? Shy bairns get no sweets.

It should be no problem. You will have to produce evidence for your ticket (receipts, boarding pass, etc.). You can only claim for tickets to and from your place of residence (ie, you can'y have the cash instead-- unfortuately).
