I was wondering if anyone has done the Boland course in Suzhou recently(the past few months)? I have searched other posters, who have been with Boland, but that was a while ago.
Im going to do the course in Sept I think, and just wondering about job placement afterwards. I know a lot of universities or public schools begin in Sept in almost all the neighboring countries, as well as China. I have read the post about getting a CELTA or whatever else, but wasnt to sure about Boland's course. It appears to be good program, like most TEFL certifcate programs.
My main concern is getting a job afterwards in China. I know the pay is not as good as other places like Korea, Japan or Taiwan, but I plan to go there afterwards and work with my certificate in hand and teaching experience.
On a different topic, for those in working in China, I would assume that making money wasnt the biggest factor in teaching, so for those with debt (credit cards/student loans), what is your main reason on going to teach in China? |

i thought i'd bump this up since there was another thread that addressed related issues that's higher up on the forum but which originated in 2003. i thought some of the posters to that thread might have something to say.
to the OP, i've been living in suzhou for the past year and have come across quite a few of the school's students/alumni as well as had direct contact with the school itself on behalf of my company. the most recent student of there i know of on this site goes by the handle of c-way. you might try to contact him.
job placement afterward should be no problem, whether or not they help you. just begin posting your resume on the 'net before you leave for china, or soon after you arrive there, and you should be able to have something lined up by the time you graduate.
if you have any questions about suzhou specifically, feel free to pm or e-mail me, by the way. |
