http://www.bridgelinguatec.com/

Can anyone give me some information on Bridge Linguatec's Online TEFL program? I can't take an onsite TEFL or CLETA course from where I live so Online is the best / only option for me.

If you want to recommend a different online program please do so with the reasons why it's worth doing.

Thank you a ton in advance,
Sage

PS: I know about the various posts on this board about the online/onsite debate and the big list of TEFL courses on the Tai. forum.

Don't do an online TEFL course.

Having said that, I steered my sister toward one, and I would actually hire someone who has taken this course:
http://www.english-international.com/
At that site, you will find a lot of helpful information, and you will also find a VERY GOOD TEFL certificate course that includes observed practice. It involves your videotaping a class that you have to set up on your own, and I can see a lot of people being put off by that, but Jeff Mohamed is, in my opinion, beyond reproach, and he will not pass a crap teacher. If you do his course, including the video observed classes, then you will have done a good enough course for me. And I am picky about who I hire - I'd rather do all the classes myself than deal with a crap teacher. But I'd hire an English International teacher, IF he/she did all of the courses including the video thing. have a look at that, and see if you can't work it out.
Good luck.

I don't know Bridge Linguatecs program, but Gregor hit it on the head when he said "observed teaching practice."

It is a well known company, so if it has an observed teaching practice, it's probably ok. If not, take a miss. I personally would hesitate to take a cert with no teaching practice seriously.

That said, if you really can't manage teaching practice as part of your cert, volunteer, teach, go to a local community college, anything, really, to show me that TEACHING is part of what you've done.

GOod luck,
Justin

Do a quick search and you'll find an earlier post I made concerning Bridge. IMO a pretty decent course as far as online courses go.

Regards,

Shawn
