Ok just thought Id share my good fortune with all you lovely people as I have been following this forum for a while without being able to provide much help to anyone here so I hope this is going to be encouraging for those just about to arive and are looking for work.
Basically from what I was reading before I arrived I was seriously beginning to worry about my chances of getting any work upon arrival as I was constantly told that this is a 'bad time of year' and that I should arrive with plenty of contingency funds, which was something I didn't have. Anyway after an inital period of adjustment I finally got round to emailing my CV to institutes. I kid you not I must have emailed every institute with an email address (think I send around 150 in total). After getting a hendful of replies, yes, nos and contact me in Marches, I went for my first interview with the expectation of maybe 10 hours a week if I was lucky and came away with 21 hours!!!! couldn't beleive my luck!! The institue I'm going to be working for, called Brooklyn Bridge, runs it's course in modules and a new corse is starting just now so they are replacing old teacher that have left. So if anyone out there is looking for more hours I recommend you give them a call or send tham an email. their email address is [email protected]. I asked today and I know they have lots of hours. the pay $15 an hour to start and rises if you are CELTA qualified. By the way I havent actually taught for them yet but they seem to have themselves pretty well organised.
Well thats all for now

yeah been here three weeks now and work is starting to come in for me here and there so yeah should be breaking even "on paper" soon.

I've emailed a similar list and obtained many similar replies. Alot of work im getting now - has been through word of mouth - some from this forum.

Well the ones that are out of town are all kind of around the same time and they lay on a taxi to take you from place to place!! Mostly 4 hour chunks for the out of towners. The ones in town are just 1.5-2 hours.
I think i should be breaking even on those hours, well until I get the hang of these late hours!!!
Hope to meet you all at Carlos-England's knees up v Very Happy
Gareth if your new job you were explaining about in the other post doesnt work out maybe you should give them a call.
