|

Hello all, I have seen most of the jobs on the board pay between 55-60,000 Taiwan dollars for an entry level type of job.
I have just finished my first year teaching, in China, I have a degree and a CELTA. What sort of amount should I be looking for, or expect when I look for jobs? |

In Taipei that is about average for any teacher starting a new job and has been for the better part of the last decade.
Experience is not required and many schools will avoid hiring teachers with a lot of experience. That means you may be in a better position to get the job than many of the non Chinese teaches on Taiwan who have been initiated into the ways of Taiwan ESL.
Outside of Taipei, where the recession is hitting the local economies harder, wages are markedly lower.
Pay by the hour is still preferable to positions that offer a monthly salary.
Good luck!
