I'm in Taiwan, and will be until at least through February, what kind of complications could this present in applying for the JET program?
I know that they do interviews, and the deadline is usually in December right, so will it hurt my chances if I'm unavailable for an interview until March? Would I have to fly to Japan and conduct an interview there? Any help would be appreciated. |

You can apply to JET from your home country or from within Japan (new amendment to their rules last year). However, you must interview in your home country. Interviews are in February. If you can't be home for them, forget JET. They have too many applicants to make exceptions.
December deadline is for applications. |

sorry if I was unclear, but by December deadline I was refering to the application deadline. I might be able to make it home mid February if I save all of my vacation days until the end of the contract. When you say apply from your home country, does that mean that I would have to do my interview there, or that they would automatically dismiss me just because the application has a Taiwan postmark? |

You do your interview in your home country. Period. No exceptions.
You can apply to JET from within Japan or from your home country. I presume they simply want to get the application at one office or the other, regardless of postmark. |
