Sadly, behind every myth is a little bit of truth.

Which one is the myth and which one is the truth?
1. The stupidity of lazy people who watch TV?
2. Merlin's "dazzling intellect"?

You decide! Very Happy

Hypocrisy at its finest, folks. Absolute hypocrisy. You cannot claim to combat "sick" stereotyping unless you combat all stereotyping ... not just the stereotypes that offend you or don't fit into your world view.

If I say something like ...

Muslims "hate the Jews, want gays dead, want women to be subservient, and tolerate war & violence to achieve their goals", then I am a racist or a bigot.

But if it's Republicans "hate the Jews, want gays dead, want women to be subservient, and tolerate war & violence to achieve their goals", it's perfectly acceptable stereotype to many of you.

If I say Americans are "loud, fat, rude, always feel a sense of entitlement, eat lots of junk food, don't speak other languages, have a high murder rate, don't travel much outside their country, etc.", most of you won't bat an eyelid. It's not prejudiced or "racist" to say this.

But if I say African-Americans are "loud, fat, rude, always feel a sense of entitlement, eat lots of junk food, don't speak other languages, have a high murder rate, don't travel much outside their country, etc.", I will be (very rightly) branded a bigoted racist jerk.

My point is that you either combat stereotypes, or you don't. You cannot pick and choose.

I'll get it back on track

Happy - I will be in Argentina within a month, it's SUMMER here and I can go swimming, Tennis tournaments are on every weekend, the US Open is less than 1 month away, Kim Clijsters is playing well, and my boyfriend is smoking hot. Just look:

Annoyed - My car just started running badly ... I am going to sell it this month, my stupid doctor gave me a full heart exam only to tell me that I'm fine and my deductible is $1000, Lindsay Davenport, Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Roger Federer, Marat Safin, & Justine Henin-Hardenne are all recovering from injuries!!!! Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad

Then it's probably time to leave the General Discussion forum, and perhaps Dave's altogether.
