Now that I'm getting ready to arrive in a couple weeks, a few random questios are popping up, so here's one of them: how efficient/ dependable is the mail system there (particularly international mail)? Would it be a bad idea to send a package of clothes or something to get there a couple days after i do?

I'm sure it is a hell of a lot cheaper to stuff it in another bag or pay the fine for carrying an extra bag, or the best idea would be to buy the stuff you want down here. It is notriously unrelaible, or atleast it was. Not sure how good it is now.

I just sent something from Correo Argentino a few days ago to the U.S..
It was relatively cheap $25 U.S to send an Ipod, lots of accessories and a book to the U.S. in certified mail.
It costs me about the same to send an envelope of maybe 40 papers to Argentina from Oklahoma.

i sent a 3 lb package to a buddy of mine in Bs As last month and it still hasnt gotten there! i sent it with the US post office and bought insurance because they dont track anything. Fed Ex guarenteed arrival but cost over a hundred dollars and required a special permit. so bottom line....sketchy, id carry-on

I sent a very small package to Quilmes two months ago from Tennessee. I paid for the 7-10 day delivery. It arrived in about 3 weeks. It cost $13, and it was just 100 or so photos.

So I would take an extra bag on the airplane if it's not too expensive. The postage is very expensive and slow.
