At SITC there is a timeclock that teachers have to clock in at before their shift. Just like a factory.
The problem is that the timeclock is slow and the administration is actually taking money from teachers' pay for being late, as a fine, even though they were on time.
The timeclock is slow.
Avoid this place like the plague. |

Is that just the one branch? Where is that branch located? Hanoi or HCMC?. I got offered a position with this school in Hanoi via the internet. I have heard a few bad rumours so I doubt that I will accept. Is it true that they take 25% of your pay for tax? |

It seems like an odd move from the school's point of view. Surely teachers arrive well before the lesson in order to be sufficiently prepared. Using this system would send a signal that this wasn't expected?
More importantly though: do you know if the teachers have taken this up with the management? |

If the clock was slow, then the teachers would be early. |

A couple of years ago, I taught a couple of classes at SITC's District 10 building. The time clock was one of a number of reasons why I pulled the pin.
As Blade said, it was slow - about five minutes slow. So, I would start my class at 5:30PM according to my watch *and* the clock in the staff room, and finish at 7:00PM sharp. By the time I got downstairs and signed out, it was 7:03 or 7:04 by my watch. Since I had another class immediately following at another school, I clocked out at 6:58 according to the time clock... and found my pay docked a few thousand dong the following pay day. Not much, but it left a bad taste in my mouth.
Also, the exchange rate they used was about 200VND under the standard. All in all, I guess I lost out on maybe 80,000 dong - not much, but the constant nickel-and-diming of teachers was both unnecessary and highly annoying. |

Too bad. They lost a good teacher over this.
But what you noted is bad treatment in principal, and practice. |
