Finally Geos has informed me of where I will be living: Hakodate. Anyone know anything good, bad, whatever about the city? Any information would be appreciated!

Hakodate? I LOVE it! But I lived there a long, long time ago when I was a kid(20 yrs old) Hakodate is beautiful. It was one of the best years in my life. I'm sure it's changed a lot since then (1994-95) so I'm probably not the best person to ask about the details of working there.

Good luck and enjoy the AWESOME food!

My wife used to live there. I've visited a couple of times. Food is great. City is nice and clean. It is warmer than most other areas in Hokkaido during winter.

Hakkodate is great. I lived on Hokkaido for a year, and I'm sure you'll love it. It lacks some of the things Kanto or Kansai have, such as pre-Meiji Japanese history, and (other than Sapporo) big metropolitan areas (some people prefer this), but the people are friendly, the food is great, and the nature is spectacular! Just bring a warm coat and a couple pairs of gloves!
