I am not in Thailand yet and I've been told that its just best to wait and when I come to Thailand look for a job then as most employers hire in country. But I have been looking on the internet and have been sending my resume off to see what kind of responses that I get. I sent my resume off to Siam Computer Language School and got a positive response saying that they are interested in me and when I arrive in Thailand to give them a call. They seem to be offering a couple of positions, one being to sent to schools or companies to give English lessons, the other one working at their language school. The one at their language school is working 6 days a week, the other one, going to the companies and schools is for 5 days a week.

Has anyone had experience with Siam Computer Language School? Are they any good? Do they pay on time? Do they have a good reputation?

Oh yeah one more thing is it common to work 6 days a week in Thailand? I know that I am not going to get rich working as an English teacher in Thailand BUT I would like to have 2 days off per week.

Erm okay it's not what I'm going to say it's what I don't say Wink

They pay on time as far as I know etc. but you could probably do better on arrival IMO. They're not a baddish place (like a lot of the lower paying language schools) to cut your teeth at but you'd not IMO want to make a career out of teaching there.

I work 6 days a week, but I've noticed a lot more teachers won't nowadays.....but some need to to boost their wages (bear in mind that often you can be out of work for a few months over the holidays if you're not on a 12 month contract etc.)

Hi there,

You have not mentioned which Siam schools you have been in contact with.

I would STRONGLY suggest that you do a search on the internet with 'Siam computer language school@ + the name of the town. Your search may pick up a lot of feedback from other teachers that have worked for them........... Shocked

Hi

With any large chain school,

you're going to find both positive

and negative feedback.

The school you've mentioned seems to get more of the negative kind.

In addition to laura1d's good advice, you can also read several

first-hand accounts on the Job Info Journal here @ Dave's:

http://www.eslcafe.com/jobinfo/asia/sefer.cgi?Thailand

as well as the Thai School Watch website:

http://www.thaischoolwatch.com/

Don't be too disappointed with what you find, by the way.

Many Thai schools won't make firm offers over the web,

and those that do are quite often:

a) desperate due to the negative PR they've received

or

b) desperate due to the lower salary they're offering
