Hello Canadian ex-pats!

I was just curious about where you do your banking in BsAs? I've seen Americans on this forum mention Citibank but I don't know if that is open to everyone. How difficult/safe would it be to set up an Argentine account?

Currently I have a TD Canada Trust account. Will I have much luck accessing my money if I leave it there?

Thanks for the help!

Hi,

I'm not really answering your question but, here's some advice...

Make sure you can access your savings in South America!

I have a President's Choice account. I can NOT take money out via interac with this account. I have had to take $$ out from my credit card and then transfer funds from my PC account to my credit card as a bill payment. Sucks the big one. In order to put $$ in my account, I have to Western Union cash home so a family member can write a cheque and MAIL it to the main branch in Toronto so that it can be deposited into my account. Not fun.

Yeah, make sure you can access your $$. Call your bank or look online.

Hi! Thanks for your advice. It sounds like you've had a hell of a time accessing your money! I guess I'll have to talk to my bank about what options I have.

Any other Canadians who can offer me some advice on this?

If you have a visa or mastercard logo on your debit card you can access your money from every corner in the city. As far as savings...I dont know that a lot of people here have experience with saving much of anything. I dont.
