Simon: I pity your students.
You should never have been a teacher.

Why not try something else?
Like join the local mafia gang or something. It's better money too.

I am not a real teacher and neither are countless hundreds of other laowai in this country. Teaching is simply put, an easy job with good pay (relatively).

Now beat it. This is not a thread for haters and old farts to nag about what's right & wrong.

Guess you got the rush, you really buzzing. Great to be the rebel, but this is a little reckless... and when you travel its a pain when a reckless traveller before has conditioned the locals. Like travel anywhere, you are to the locals, sometimes one of the few examples that influences the way they grow to understand your culture to be and the way it treats others, Right?

Why? It is a problem and here is great chance to discuss it.

This is a great example of a common dilemma especially for new FE's and how they handle things when they arrive, why they came and how they feel within the first few months.

And this good as any place to highlight the effects.
Especially at this time of the year.

I'm tending to ignore responses from the more sappier posters (for example, babala). Also, I don't expect any response from you. In fact, I remember asking for you to leave this thread a long time ago. Though your inability to listen and understand instruction has kept you here.

Moving on, rebel yes, reckless (depends - though I don't really care). Also, my feelings after the first few months are all positive. I'm really excited at the thought of world travel.

The local (the Chinese) are always happy and excited when I speak Mandarin with them. When I disappear, another laowai will take my place (and they will be just as happy interacting with him/her).

This so-called conitioning and influence you speak of has no bearing on me (as I'm not even here to share my culture) - I'm here to learn about thiers.

Also, I don't care how they grow to understand my culture (that is not my purpose here).

By the way, fyi, all the effects so far have been positive (for me anyways).

No shudup already...

Maybe there are hundreds of likeminded parasites; but there also are hundreds of us who take our jobs and our learners and employers seriously, and we will always riposte in the manner we feel is needed.

I for one do not want to encourage people like you to visit our forum or to stay in China.
You are a disgrace to all of us!

Mind you - I laud you for being so upfront about your character weakness!

As far as I can tell, the last useful contribution to this thread was somewhere around page 3. Most of what follows is just drivel.

Time to move on. Nothing more to see here, folks.
