Has this site been down all day? I've been trying to enter for most of the day and only just managed to log on?(about 12 hours) Anyone else had the same problems?

I had problems this morning too, but it seems to be back up. Techs don't work on Sundays it seems.

I did not suffer from any withdrawal symptoms, but I did actually decide to look at one of the rival ESL talk sites if only because one of my ex-colleagues is a moderator. The number of messages posted on the day of opening made one wonder if people had nothing else to do but post on that site! Compared to Daves, though, it is still quite small, but, then again, it does only deal with one country. I have not made a posting there, though, nor have I registered yet! (Hint, hint!)

I was lost without Dave's!!!

I've noticed on several occasions that this site is just about the slowest thing since, uh, molasses in... (how does that damn cliche go?). Doesn't matter where I am, what type of connection I've got, etc. And it often freezes up on me after a few minutes. What's going on?!?!?

Recently, I have had a message coming up 'critical error' and it won't load. Not any old error but a critical one Confused Is this Forum becoming to big?

I got that message "critical error" too this morning. I thought it was a perfect phrase for my life. I couldn't get through for an hour or so; didn't suffer from any withdrawal, but my wife kept asking why I had my hands between my knees and kept rocking back and forth.

Were you gibbering? That's always a give away... Wink

At least when the whole site is down you can be happy in the knowledge that no one else is getting their fix either. Of course you can never be sure that you're not the only one having difficulties and the thought that you might be missing something is a KILLER!

It's been down for the past hour again. Can any techies(or mods) explain why.I'm not desperate or anything, just curious as to why every other site works. Time to ask for a refund? oh.... we didn't pay anything in the first place. Thanks Dave.

I think it's due to the sheer size of the site!

There are only 22,667 members(at the moment). I reckon it is due to all those lurkers.
