Sept 15/16 fast approaches. What is everybody planning on doing?
My parents will be in town and as they are a little older, I'm thinking not to take them to the Zocalo for the party. Although, there is a rooftop restaurant with a great view of the Zocalo. They are charging 1400 pesos a head for a buffet, drinks, and prime seating, but that's WAY out of my budget. |

Check into the Hostal Catedral for the night, and spend it on the rooftop. Excellent view of the Zocalo from there. I can't be responsible for how thousands of drunk, sweaty backpackers might affect your folks though! |

Booked solid already. The only other place is Hostal Moneda for a rooftop bar but that place always smells like rotting chicken. |

I did the Zocalo ONCE--NEVER again! It was Fox's first grito and I thought it'd be a good historic event, I didn't realize it was more like a war zone.
I'm hoping to spend a quiet evening at home, luckily I live 3 km from anything resembling a town square so I might actually get my wish. But my mother-in-law has very different ideas about what sort of activities are appropriate for her granddaughters. Maybe after the fiasco with the confetti filled castillo at the festival for the patron saint last July, she might actually agree with me that they'll have lots of years to gritar, now lets just keep them home. |

Im definitely going but Ill need to someplace to crash afterwards. Will every hotel in the city be filled and I need to make a reservation or can I get out of the Zocalo area and find a place?
How early should I get there btw... |
