Hi Everyone!

I was just wondering if anyone could help me out as I have gotten job offers at Cambridge in Warsaw, Mission in Krakow and Cosmopolitan in Wroclaw, and am having a very hard time choosing where to go.
Has anyone worked for or heard anything about Mission School in Krakow or Cosmopolitan School in Wroclaw? I can't seem to find any info on these schools. Any info would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Although it is understandable to want to find a good school, I would go by the city you want to live in.

I lived in Cracow for two years and I loved it.

It is much more traditional than Warsaw and there is a lot going on but at the same it still manages to feel like a small town.

Choose Cracow.

I was once offered a part time job with Mission but I was offered full time job somewhere else and took it.

Mission is a very small school and the only thing about it that you may want to think about it whether their classes are there or if you'll have to commute to different offices to teach.

I personally don't like commuting to offices, although I do do it in Shanghai.

Dear gregoryfromcali,

Thank you very much for the response. The reason I am asking is that I have been trying very hard to find work in Krakow, but it seems like I can get a good job offer in the other cities and can't seem to find anything in Krakow that pays anywhere near what some of the people on these posts have said you should be earning. I have a degree and TESOL certificate, but no experience, so maybe that is why.

I'm going to tout Warsaw's delights, because, whilst Krakow may have a more pleasant atmosphere and be slightly cheaper, if you end up not liking the school there's a hell of a lot of decent employment in Warsaw to choose from (I finally hit Alex's target of 5400zł a month, hurrah!), which means you dont have to up sticks and relocate come Christmas

Chatty,

I too am loking for work in Krakow at the moment. I've had several interviews. My impression is that there are quite a few vacancies around. I think your quals are fine. (I have a degree and ESOL experience but no CELTA.)

Don't be put off by the high figures mentioned around here. I reckon that's for the good gigs that take some finding once you've been here a while. Good luck to those that get them, but I don't think 50+PLN is to be expected by a newbie - like me. Smile

P.S. I'll PM you.

As far as cities go its all about personal preference and from those 3 mine is Wroclaw. Similar to Krakow without the overpricing. Wroclaw is an education city with 8 universities (not sure how the work that out Im sure some are private colleges). Its a lively, young energetic place.

And I think the school DOES matter - what youll be teaching and who youll be teaching and working with 4-6 hours a day is important. My first offer was with Cosomopolitan in Wroclaw but I lost touch with Maria there and I took another offer. I went to see her when I got here - the school seemed great and she was nice. The school is in the west of the city about 2 km from centre Id guess. She told me the teacher can more or less teach what they like from the school's library or your own material. One thing you may or may not like is that they go on winter and sumer camp with kids and thats part of the teacher's job there.

Good luck
