| four years is the norm for a bachelor's in the u.s. some larger (more credits needed) programs, such as engineering and architecture all but require five years. but if you took a ton of credits or didn't take summers off (this was possible at my school, where the summer term was a normal term--we were on quarters rather than semesters), you could finish much more quickly. my school also happened to have this early-entrance program for "gifted" students as young as 11 years old to start taking college classes. so they'd graduate at age 15 or 16 and invariably go on to more school. but the program wasn't without its controversy. and yeah, those students were totally annoying because it was like going to class with a bunch of middle-schoolers--they totally dominated the honors classes. |
