It depends on the route, I think. The school I worked at had its own buses for staff-which took a simple, wide, route- and contracted out to bus companies for the kids. Depending on where they lived, some teachers travelled with students. I went in a small service bus with four other teachers and two students. And it wasn't free. And at kiddie schools, you allllllllwayssss supervise the students. Shocked

Related to service buses. Did anyone get caught in the traffic? I didn't but my student was half an hour late. It's the same every year. The first day of the new term and the traffic is horrendous.
Here's my proposal. Elementary schools begin at 9 on the first day of term and high school begins at 12. Or, don't have lessons on the first day of term as everyone is late. Or, state schools begin on a Monday and private schools start on a Tuesday. or.... what do you think?
(Ok I admit it. not my ideas. I read it in the TDN( I don't buy it, it gets to delivered to the office) as I waited for my student this morning)

That's a good idea.

My old school was far ahead of the game. They don't have many lessons for THE FIRST TWO WEEKS! Lots of film watching. Shocked Perhaps they should advise schools in Istanbul. SEMiNOR: How to beet the trafic- dun't learn yur chilldren nuthing.

Terkidag.....It seems the school I am going to work at must be the same as your old school. Still waiting for visa and school has started.

Guess they must be watching movies etc.....so who cares if the teacher has not arrived yet....LOL I knew Turkey would have some similarities to the Thai system and this sounds very familiar....

Cheers

The Turkish staff always told me that all schools were like the one we worked in. But I suspect (hope) that isn't the case. The first 2-3 weeks of the school year were wasted and the last 2 months were a complete write off.

They have a relaxed attitude at my old school.

Anyway, I am pretty durned happy today because I ACTUALLY got my salary for JULY! Whoooo hooo! Perhaps I'll get August pay in December, just in time for XMAS!!! Laughing
