|

Hi again
Quick border - crossing question: Do I have to have a return plane ticket/ ferry ticket upon arriving in Turkey for them to let me in?
Can i just fly/sail/take the bus or train one way?
Also, I am thinking of flying to Ancona from England, then taking the ferry from Ancona to Cesme, Turkey. I don't know of anyone who has done this, but the travel guides don't hesitate to recommend it! It's failry cheap ($260 - breakfast included!) but the catch is that it takes 63 hours! I think it could be quite an adventure - the question is, would it be great or horrendous?
What do you think?

I have a friend who took the ferry to Italy from Turkey and it took 4 days. The food was pretty crappy, which I also experienced when I took the ferry from istanbul to Izmir. In fact, it made both of us ill. If you take the ferry, be careful what you eat. You can get cabins if you want to sleep-- pullman means you get a chair. I don't know what you see from the ferry, so I guess bring a few books would be a good idea too.
You don't need a return ticket, btw. |

You could look into other ferry options from Italy. I think the one from Venice is quite posh/lux but probably more expensive. I think there's also one from Brindisi.
An ex-colleague came by ferry with a one-way ticket a few years back, I don't think he had any problems.
I've heard that flights to Lesbos are cheap and then there's the short ferry crossing to Ayvalik. Or Kos-Bodrum maybe? |
