In my experience, given two candidates with equivalent qualifications one in his fifties the other under 30, schools will go for the younger applicant 95% of the time. Out of the thirty odd teachers at the schools in the city I worked in only one was over 40, and he only got the job because he went to the school himself and met the owner's wife, who overruled her husband's objections. That said, I doubt many students really care either way how old their teacher is as long as they can do the job. |
