Okay everyone, I hope I'm not beating a dead horse here, but I haven't found a thread with the info I need so here goes:

I need to head off to get my 3month stamp and wish to do it in the most cost effective way. I tried looking for Auto-Res to Malaga or Granada but no luck. Also, I have no idea what to do once there. My Spanish is very basic at this point so need as much info prior to my adventure as possible.

Can you all please give me some advice on the least expensive way to get stamped. I live in Madrid and on a budget, obviously, but I do have some free time the next couple weekends. Even if the trip takes a few days, it's better than costing a fortune. I can always sleep on the bus/train/plane etc.

Thanks,
Rebecca

PS - I hear I should not travel to Morocco alone because I am a female. Is this really a big problem, should I be scared?

Gibraltar? Or in Algeciras port you can book an organized one day trip to Tangiers, an eye-opener. You'll see a couple of interesting sights but it then descends into an almighty craft shop crawl - be scared.

But why do you want a stamp?

Yeah, why do you want a stamp? I'm assuming it's because you're non-EU and think you can stay for another 3 months that way, but remember you can only legally stay in Spain for 90 days out of a 180 day period. So, unless you're planning on staying in the UK or Morocco for 90 days you'll still be illegal in Spain once you come back even if you do have another stamp. Personally I wouldn't risk leaving Spain in your situation because you could have trouble when you come back. It's just not worth the time / money to go and get a stamp when you're going to be here illegally no matter if you leave or not.

What they said before is correct. Leaving the country and coming back every three months isn't some kind of loop hole you can abuse to stay in Spain longer. If you come back and stay another three months you are still technically illegal (I believe only the police can give an extension to the initial 3 month tourist visa).

Besides, I've been to Morocco twice and in both cases I received no stamp from the Spanish border guards during crossing what-so-ever. All I had to do was hold my passport up and I was waved through (that should give you an idea on how viciously hunted we Non-EUers are by the Spanish police Very Happy).
