|
|
I have heard that most people get by on their wage, but make more/extra money doing private tutoring on their own time. However, I have also heard that some schools don't allow private tutoring.
Is this a realistic idea on top of all of your hours you would be working at your school?
What would someone expect to make doing private tutoring? ( In Indo, China, VN)
Can anyone shed some light on this subject for me please?
Cheers,

It's common for people to take on a few 'privates' to make some extra coin while teaching for a school. The schools generally don't like it because they see it as competition.
I've never bothered because I simply value my time too much. Even when potential privates have offered me generous pay I've turned it down just because I couldn't be bothered giving up my personal time. |

Every country is different and schools may have different rules. In Japan, private teaching is very common and lucrative. |

Mexico City privates are lucrative...often double or triple what a language school pays. |

I've never bothered, personally, but some people do well at it.
If you want a clear answer to your question, think about where you'll be teaching. (Universities, high schools, language academies, or whatever)
The hours required on the contract are the thing...some places it's very easy to fit in a few privates. Others, it's next to impossible.
Also, think about the wage package. Some places, a few privates can be necessary. Others, you won't need them at all.
Regards,
