Hi! for those who hate the berlitz system, i'd just like you to know that things are a bit different at berlitz LC, manila. unlike most berlitz language centers, the teachers at the manila office have regular students...we don't find out our next day skeds at 2PM. however, you have to process your work papers on your own and there is no guaranteed minimum income per month. we've had a bunch of teachers leave because of the low level of job security. one month you could have a lot of classes and then you could have none the next. when it rains, it pours but there are periods of drought. most of us survive by taking on extra jobs--private tutorials, other jobs, etc. but if you exert a bit of effort and creativity, finding a second job isn't that difficult. you could live pretty well on P20-30K (USD350-550) a month (if you were single, willing to live in a studio apartment and willing to take philippine public transportation). the philippines is not for everyone, but some people do enjoy their stay here. |
