Hi,
I just completed the CELTA course, I have a bachelors degree (not in English), and years of life exerience (which means I'm not quite 50). I want to teach in Santiago. Any advice or information would be fantastic. I'm stuck in the midwestern US (Wisconsin) right now, and really want to get out before winter hits. What do I need to know about moving to Santiago and getting a job there?
Thanks!
John - ready to begin a new life

hello john,
you should have absolutely no problem finding a job teaching here and santiago is a nice city. you are making a good decision. i have been here for just about a month and still love it. having celta should definetly help since most of us don't. you should probably bring enough money to live here for a couple of months without having to worry while you establish those contacts. i know for a fact that comunicorp and burford are hiring, and there are probably many more schools hiring now as well. the problem with the winter is that here it's the summer and, from what i have been told, february is absolutely dead here so there is no work of any kind to be had. therefore, if you choose to come then, you should have some savings. if you have any questions, you can ask me or any of the other nice people at this forum. |
