In China, grade levels are broken up in the following manner:

Kindergarten
Primary 1st through 5th or 6th
Junior Middle School 1, 2, 3
Senior Middle School 1, 2, 3

Why am I posting this? It's possibly a good idea to clarify when asking for help or lesson ideas, etc. If you are teaching "grade 1", is that in Primary, Junior, or Senior school? I teach Primary 1st grade, by the way. A handful, but my days/lessons just FLY by.

Also, a student told me the other day that you MUST do Junior Middle school, but Senior middle school isn't required.

Some people go to a "college" during those years. In my town there is a school called the "agricultural College" which is for students that wont go to univerersity, but become workers instead.

Not really. Many young restaurant waitresses had to quit junior middle school because their family just couldn't afford it anymore. Yes, people who want to go to college MUST graduate from junior middle school first.

Those are junior colleges. Students who did poorly on their senior middle school entrance exams can only go to a junior college if they want to go to a university one day. Upon graduation, they can either (1) begin their career in their field of study (2) go to a senior college that lasts 3 years or (3) try to go to a university.
