hi
i'll likely be using turkish airlines to return to uk for xmas. does anyone have any particular comments on wat theyre like in regard to punctuality, safety, comfort etc. ive always thought of it (for some odd/gut feeling) as a bit of a 'mickey mouse' airline but i cud be wrong.

They're surprisingly good, actually, in terms of all the criteria you mentioned.

However, you might find them to be quite a bit more expensive than some of the others.

Just don't take Delta, whatever you do!

Never tried the London flights. I have been to and from Bahrain and Sofia. They were fine. Food was the best I have eaten inflight.

Prices have gone up a lot.

They were really bad once; now they have one of the youngest fleets around. They cost a bit thou Exclamation

Just have to had all of the above is for external flights only. National flights are just crap.

Three years ago I was flying into Istanbul on a Turkish Airlines flight right around the time the Hadj to Mecca had ended. A 20-something Turkish girl ordered a glass of wine after lunch. She was sitting in the window seat.

Across the aisle was a Saudi man and his black-sheet-of-a-wife. He leaned over, and yelled at her, "If you drank that filth in my country - we'd cut your hand off!".

The two men between the Saudi man and the girl were Egyptian and Jordanain, they took great exception to what this guy had said and -long story short - there was a huge brawl! The whole midsection of the plane was involved! The stewards ran out and tried to break it up, the girl was screaming for everyone to calm down, and the captain pleaded with people to behave over the PA system.

They had to move the Saudi and his wife into business class because passengers couldn't stop hurling abuse at them.

The best part (aside from the free inflight entertainment), was that they all used ENGLISH to argue with each other!

If you get the Ist-Jeddah THY flight you are guaranteed that at any time at least half the plane will be full of elderly Turkish pilgrims who are flying for the first time. They have a group leader and on the way back always try to bring what looks like 120 kilos like you can on a bus. They stuff the free blankets in their bags and wonder off at the airport. Sadly on the return trip the plane sits on the tarmac at Adana for an hour which makes for a long trip.

To the OP, I have never had any probs with THY although I have only flown internationally with them, usually London or Amsterdam. However as other posters have said, their prices are increasing, other airlines often offer more competitive deals.
