Can't beat that Bebsi, but something is better than nothing! Here's my contribution

Behold, a vacancy has been advertised in the KSA,
daddy, dont we hate their way,
Sonny, it is a big chunk of money,
But daddy, I cant ride a camel all the way,
Dont worry son, a horse is provided everyday
The tents are big, we dont even have to pay
Bahrain is next door, didnt I say?
We can go at the weekends and see uncle Ray
In Bahrain, we will shower without a delay
But the more money in KSA
The more we will stay
When we finally leave for good the KSA
And go back to the USA
Well tell everyone we hated the KSA,
And thats what we will convey
Youll say that is hypocrisy, but hey!
We are used to it, and so should they!!!

Another short one that has come into my head:

The Liberation of Arabia

Of the Ottoman,
Not a man.

On the decision to give Saturday - the 24th of September a day off.

This is certainly Cute
What an amazing thing to bruit
To the decision makers: Salute!
For us (old) teachers and to the new recruit(s)
Well seek the shortest route
To Damascus, Dubai or even Beirut!
And to the irritating driver behind me: dont hoot!
Some will sit down and listen to the flute
Others will simply play tute!

Who's given the holiday? First I've heard of it.

Just got the official notification today. Now if only they'd make the National Holiday the weekend after payday, instead of the weekend before!

I think it's quite a thoughtful gesture!! They are trying to help us save the salary since having the salary before this holiday will certainly shrink it to a great extent!!

The Arab News was mentioned which reminded me of a recent articel published therein entitled 'To Shoot Or Not To Shoot?' I was interested to read how the religious police had confiscated a photographer's camera because he had committed some kind of blasphemy by photographing some palm trees laid low in a storm. Apparently, it is going against the laws of Islam to photograph or even paint or draw living creatures and plants etc.

At Jubail Industrial College, one or two British converts to Islam refused to be photographed for the College's staff listing, presumably for reasons linked to the law mentioned above.

Where do the paintings one sees of the Saudi Royal Family fit into all this? If children in schools can't draw a complete camel or chicken or flower because it's an act of blasphemy, how can the Saudi Royals be portrayed in all their glory?

The Arab News article didn't address such questions but did at least flag up the issue.
