Please excuse the post for seeming crude, but I'm really not that well-versed in love hotel etiquette.
I guess I could really just use a primer on how to handle the love hotel thing like a pro, but what I really want to know is...is it okay to bring more than one woman? I'm interested in bringing two. Is that okay?
Is anybody experienced with this?
My bad...I don't know whom to ask. My Japanese is poor. |

Now this is a topic that really hits close to home.
You can bring as many ladies as you can manage to pull. The hotels don't care if you bring in just 2 or 3 ladies.
Tell us how you get on. |

| Yea you can bring in as many ladies as you want! The only thing love hotels don't allow is for someone to stay alone. |

| If you're worried about being confronted about the number of your "guests" choose a love hotel with zero human interaction. Some love hotels have someone you pay behind frosted glass. These are a no-no. Go for the ones with lighted displays to select your room and a pneumatic or other "touchless" payment system. That way they'll have no chance (or idea) to foil your fun. |

Are you guys kidding me? Is that first-hand information? Or something that someone told you?
There are many more rules than that -- and if you fail to follow them, then it's little wonder that a number of love hotel refuse foreign clientelle. The following doesn't apply to ALL hotels, but definitely can be used as a general guide.
First off, trying to get in with two people of the same sex is a huge no-no. Not everywhere, but in many places.
Second, many places have signs up saying "no prostitutes allowed." If that's the case, you may find yourself trying to explain to the hotel staff that your two ladies are not paid entertainment...
Thirdly, as was mentioned, staying alone is a no-no too.
Lastly, though I agree in most part with the "automated" hotel comment, don't think that these automated hotels don't have live staff. They do, they're just more discreet about it, and won't appear unless something is amiss.
There are guides up on the Internet on how to use love hotels properly... Look around and do some Google searches and I'm sure you'll find them just as easily as I did when I was looking for that info.
One thing that's probably a misconception among foreigners, is that love hotels are just big orgy/free-for-all shops. Couldn't be further from the truth. Nowadays, many places are very careful in how they run their business. At least outwardly, they are trying to keep a good reputation and try to downplay the image that they are only in the sex business... |

Jim, what are you telling us? That love hotels are reputable, charitable places of business concerned with our welfare? Next thing you know they will start up food drives for the poor. |

Well, diva...you can join us if you like. Would you mind sending a pic first though?
Actually my question was practical. I'm having two female friends from the States visit me. They're on a shoestring budget, love to party, and I live pretty far away from the city's hotspots. They'll be here during the New Year's time period and are making plans pretty slowly. We'd ideally stay in a regular hotel after being out in Tokyo, but who knows if reservations are available by the time we get around to it. I was brainstorming ideas to satisfy the lack of planning and the need to go cheap.
But, we'll be sure to discuss TEFL while we're there. |
