I thought it would be nice to compile a list of associations and clubs for teachers in Hong Kong.
I think everyone will be surprised at the sheer number. Most universities alone have several debating clubs, Toastmasters, English clubs, and then there are all the local charities.
I shall look up the registered society ordinance listings sometime next week, until then, if we can all add to the list by posting; the name, a brief description and nature of the organisation with contact details. I am hope that this will be useful for those whom have a little spare time to volunteer or just wish to have an opportunity to expand their professional & social circles in Hong Kong.
The English Speaking Union (Hong Kong) Registered charity
Promotion of the use of English world-wide. Activities: International debating, workshops, social activities. http://www.esuhk.org/
Toast Masters Hong Kong Non-profit Organisation
Public Speaking Training and social club
http://www.toastmasters.org.hk/ (links to list of other HK Toast Masters Clubs)
NESTA Native English Speaking Teachers Association
Please feel free to add more. |

Sorry, I realize it's not exactly job related. I should be inquiring about English clubs, shouldn't I! |

There are soem such hiking clubs.
Mostly you will find the HASH running clubs, the best way is thier notice board which is in the WANCH pub in Wan CHi.
As for hillwalking and trail wwalking there are a few, alas I have no details to hand.
University campuses usually have a few hiking clubs.
Sorry I can't provide anythign conrete right now.
However you may know or will find out, Hong Kong has many ecellent country parks and trails. |
