Hello there,
Does anyone know why Iraqis in particular are prohibited working in UAE lately. That include every single Iraqi.
When I asked the Embassy of UAE they confirmed that there are no rules against Iraqis but still the same result. |

This is clearly not true, as I have Iraqi colleagues. There are also Iraqis working at all levels of admin and teaching in many of the private universities and colleges, as well as in businesses of all kinds. There must be more to this story. I wonder what the OP means? |

I too worked with Iraqis in the UAE, and I know a couple of them are still there. Perhaps you mean that they are not allowing new hires or the recruitment of Iraqis from outside the UAE at this time.
I suspect that this may be an unfortunate fallout from what happened in Jordan last week. The Gulf governments may fear importing problems... again blaming all for the actions of a small minority.

That's right , there are a lot of Iraqis working in UAE. Not allowing Iraqis to work in UAE thing has been going on since 18 months or so not because of what happened in Jordan few days back.
Besides, in Iraq most of the terrorists are from KSA , Jordan and Syria...I don't see any country prohibiting those nationalities from working in their countries.
Most Iraqis who are applying in UAE are applying through respectable companies with all the documents and papers which prove they don't have any fishy political or religious background.
Visit visas are allowed and I've been in UAE a couple of times .. If for example I was a terrorist I would have done something why would I wait for a work permit .
There's something else behind this but I don't know what is it!!! |

I think we're starting to get the picture: You are an Iraqi, you were denied a visa, and you aren't happy about it. Care to tell us more? Such as what you were doing in the UAE previously? |

Actually I went Dubai in search for a decent job and I did find pretty good one matches my qualifications.
Not the visa was denied but the work permit. |

Midi,
Are you assuming that we would know the answer to your question? All we can do is speculate...
Only the Emirati government knows what is going on and I doubt that they are going to tell. I suspect that the Jordan situation will be used to justify any decision that they may have made.
It is a sad situation.

Thanks guys for replying. I thought I can have some answer but as you said ,all we can do is speculate which is getting on nerves because if you have clear law abt the situation , one can stop trying.
I know one day it will cleared out and once again UAE will open its doors to Iraqis to work there but simply one can not go spend 5000$ every time there's small hope glittering there. |

I always thought the UAE was the most tolerant of GCC states- I am surprised that this has apparently happened. Lots of Iraqis that I have met in the Gulf are very professional and highly educated.... |

That what has happened? That somebody was denied a work visa and he isn't happy about it? I wouldn't be too quick to jump to conclusions. |

Actually majority of Iraqis who risk traveling away from Iraq to find a job and settle in countries like UAE , are quite qualified with Bachelor , Master or Ph.D certificates and go for good jobs there. And that's the main reason that we are not able to stay in our country. There is no place for us anymore.
Me and my friends basically worked for humanitarian organizations and big international companies and all of our work permits and residency visas were rejected for unknown reason.
The authorities do not say in the open why Iraqis are rejected but the do have a policy against us. Political situation behind it I guess
. |
