Hey hey!
I hate Taiwan. Its so not exotic. Too regular for me. my first time to asia. guess i had different ideas.
anyone got suggestions? i still need to make a bit of money. not a ton but something.
what about vietnam or thailand?
how's the short term illegal work out there? i thought about just tripping around SE Asia for a few months doing short term work till i find a place that suits me. is this possible? or am i just dreamin'?

Have you travelled to take a look around at what's out there? I recommend it before you decide to pack your bags and move on.

Most cities in this capitalistic world are looking more and more the same every year. Same stores on every street corner -- McD's, KFC, Gap, Walmart (in the burbs)...

You are most definitely dreaming!! But heck go for it. Why not travel for a month or two around SE Asia see what place suits you the most.

If you have a degree, the world is your Oyester--pursue your dreams!

In Veitnam you will be making much more than the locals and should be comfortable.

Korea is a good option.
Thailand....never been there but theres a great guy on the forum named
TEDKARMA who has had extensive experience about Thailand and should be able to give you good advice.

Philippines is a well kept secret--I have a friend who teaches in Cagayon De Oreo and he loves it. Mind you, he does not teach english but does have a degree and teaches and loves it! Not much money though.

Like I said, if you have a degree it will be easier ( but some people have done well with out one). Anyhow, enjoy and MERRY CHRISTMAS

GoodLuck and Blessings

I would second Korea.

It's defenetely a different country. Most people do not speak english and have their own way of doing things.....although you will still find MCDs and KFC on a few street corners.

I travelled there for two months. That's not the same as working there...so my opinions may be biased. Wink
