Hi all,

I am looking for work strickly in Rome. Fell in love with the city this summer. I don't have any teaching experience but am in the process of getting my TESL certificate. I have several years of corporate office experience. Would it be easier to find a job teaching adults? Are there specific schools for that? Since i do not have teaching experience, will it be difficult for me to find work in Rome? I just got my Italian citizenship and EU passport, so i think all my papers are in order. Now all i need is a job Smile

Thanks,
Sara

Sorry I don't have any specific answers to your question about how difficult it will be to find work in Rome, I just wanted to reply to your message because I'm pretty much in the same boat. I took a university credit in Rome two summers ago and absolutely fell in love with the city. I finished University then got my TEFL certificate. I however don't have any teaching experience, but like you have italian citizenship and an EU passport. My friend and I really wanted to find a job in Rome but so far we've had no luck. So I've been applying to pretty much any school posting in Italy.
I received three responses for interviews but then the schools never ended up calling me when they said they would. Needless to say I'm getting really frustrated with this. I really wanted to have a job before the beginning of October, so my time is running out.
Anyway..... Just keep checking for those job postings and hopefully something will turn up. If I hear anything I'll let you know! Smile

Buona Fortuna!!

LORI

hey sara,

I've been living in Rome for a few years and I agree with you, it's a wonderful city, to sum up pros and cons: get stuck in a traffic jam on
the ring road, work late hours, become a bit nervous, have excellent
fish in a restaurant at Fregene, gather in an Irish pub with no Irish beers Wink go shopping in the new outlets out of town
Anyway, try kid's world school, it's a great place to start.
ciao!
