I am presently staying in tokyo for the best part of two monthsand i would be grateful for any dos or donts when making casual enquiries about teaching english here. I am under no pressure to get a job but want to dip my toe as it were. I am confident and qualified but want to listen and learn from those who know.
see previous posts for specifics

thanks

david

I'm sure people have already told you that December, especially late December, is the worst time of year to be looking for a job, and that from the 28th to January 4th, many places will be shut down completely.

One tip I can offer about job hunting...
If you plan to show up in person to hand in a resume, look professional. I've seen guys come in and wear jeans and faded T-shirts and have five o'clock shadow and messy hair. Japan is a land of first impressions and image. Look like you mean business.

Oh, and don't expect receptionists to always speak English, so know enough Japanese to get by with them.
